William Ohmsford on Monday July 3, 2017 at 4:45 pm

We will be performing Site Upgrades to move the TSW site to support Secret World Legends. It will take some time to perform these upgrades and until then the site will mainly look like the old TSW site. Please bear with us as we perform these upgrades.

The TSW Legacy Transfer System is only available to those with an existing account in The Secret World. It allows you to:

  • Copy any remaining TSW Membership time into active Patron status time

  • Unlock all the weapon pages

  • Copy over Clothing & Vanity items!

Accessing your account
Your current TSW account has already been linked to Secret World Legends.

In order to login into Secret World Legends for the first time, simply use your TSW game login details and you're all set!

Please Note:

  • To be eligible for the TSW Legacy Transfer, you must log into Secret World Legends using your TSW credentials. Brand-new Secret World Legends accounts are NOT linkable to TSW accounts retro-actively.

  • Login details on existing TSW accounts remain unchanged, should you wish to log back onto TSW.

  • If you have forgotten your TSW account details, you can recover them directly from the Secret World Legends account page:
    https://account.secretworldlegends.com

TSW Legacy Transfer System
For a limited time (until some time in August 2017), you can initiate a ONE-TIME copy of your current TSW clothing items and membership over to your Secret World Legends account. Activating this also unlocks all of your weapon pages in Secret World Legends!

Once you log into your Secret World Legends account page, click the TSW Legacy Transfer button to begin the process. That’s it!

You get to choose exactly when your items and membership gets copied, but again, this is only available until some time in August.

Clothing Transfers
Almost every single article of clothing available in the dressing room of any character on your TSW account gets copied to your Secret World Legends account. The only clothing items that won’t copy over are Faction uniforms earned through Faction Ranks. Those can be re-earned through gameplay. Additionally, the “Memory” outfits that represent the CG Characters (Rose, Alex, etc.) do not copy and will not be obtainable in Secret World Legends.

All clothing that copies over is available in the dressing room of every character on your Secret World Legends account.

There are some important things to keep in mind:
Other Items
Apart from clothing, here's a rundown on how other cosmetic items work with the Legacy Transfer System:

  • All pets you currently own in your Pet Window copy over, with the exception of pets awarded from the Museum of the Occult, as well as the Guardians of Gaia “Shem” pets.

  • All Sprint Styles and Mounts you currently own in your Sprint Window copy over, with the exception of the Franken-Chopper. Current owners of the Franken-Chopper instead receive the new “Speed Demon” bike in Secret World Legends. The Franken-Chopper is now a reward from a mission obtained from Moose at Level 50.

  • Achievements you earned in TSW do not copy over, although any clothing rewards you earned for completing those achievements do copy over.

  • Titles are not a part of the Legacy Transfer system and do not copy over to Secret World Legends.

We know many of you had questions about this process, and we hope this answers them! If you have any additional questions, or if you require assistance with your account, please don’t hesitate to contact Customer Service at http://help.funcom.com/ or http://livechat.funcom.com/.

Thanks for reading! We’ll see you ingame soon!

What is Free to Play?

Hi everyone!

Lately, we’ve been getting a bunch of questions about just what “free to play” really means, so today we’re going into a little more detail about what that’s all about.

What is Free to Play?
First of all, the whole idea behind Secret World Legends is to be able to share this crazy, rich universe with as many people as possible. We’ve got something like 100+ hours of mission and story content in the game, and removing the up-front pay barrier to the full game was really important to us. So, here we are: the game is free to play.

It costs nothing to download and nothing to play the entire game. Every story, every mission, every dungeon, every region–all free for everybody. This also means that any and all future content will also be free! Everybody will be able to experience new stories and content as they’re released without having to pay.

Really, the only limit is your own character’s level. You’ll never be forced to artificially pay out any cash or tokens in order to unlock missions and story progress.

Marks of Favour and Aurum
A pillar of our free-to-play model is being able to obtain anything through simply playing the game. Every item, skill, and ability in the game can be obtained without needing to pay real money for it–granted, you always have the option to buy things with cash, but you are never physically required to do so for anything.

The foundation of this pillar is a player-driven economy revolving around two currencies: Marks of Favour, and Aurum. There are many things you can only purchase with Marks of Favour, and some only with Aurum.

Marks of Favour are a flexible currency used for a variety of things, such as purchasing items from the Auction House, additional weapons, potion refills, dungeon keys, fusing items, cosmetic options, social items, and more. They are collected by completing daily challenges and by selling items to other players through the auction house–just playing the game.

For example, while each starting Class comes with only 2 different weapons, you can unlock every other weapon and ability for your character by spending Marks of Favour. You never need to pay cash or Aurum to unlock the other weapons for your character!

Aurum is Secret World Legends’ premium currency–you purchase Aurum with real money and use it to acquire various items, conveniences, and services. These include things like additional character slots, boosters, extra inventory space, vanity items (pets, mounts, outfits), and more.

The Exchange and Economy
Marks of Favour may be used to obtain Aurum, and Aurum may be used to obtain Marks of Favour. That’s where the Exchange comes in! The Exchange is a currency market where you may trade Aurum with other players for Marks of Favour, and vice-versa. You set the price, and you create the exchange rate. This is your economy.

Here’s a scenario: Let’s say an awesome shotgun drops for you while you’re playing. Sweet! This weapon could be worth a lot on the Auction House, so you put it up for sale; behold, another player indeed buys it from you! You then take your Marks to the Exchange and trade them out with someone for Aurum. Now, you can get that pet or booster you’ve been wanting!

You could even just keep the Marks for yourself, since many things are still only obtainable through spending Marks of Favour.

How you want to go about it is up to you!

We hope this helps answer some questions you may have had about Secret World Legends’ free-to-play model!

Today we announced that we are releasing the game on June 26th, 2017!
We wanted to take this opportunity to provide an overview of what Secret World Legends is. Ever since we announced the game we’ve seen a lot of questions and discussions about what this means to The Secret World and what people can expect in Secret World Legends.

Today we’ve released a video that we hope better answers the question of what the game is:

Secret World Legends is a free-to-play reboot of 2012’s The Secret World. We’ve learned a lot over the past several years, and wanted to go back and draw upon as much of that experience in our approach for Secret World Legends. It will mean going back and re-doing many mechanics and design decisions from TSW, and there’s a ton of under-the-hood work going into Secret World Legends that may not even be immediately apparent from the get-go.

One of the most common questions we’ve received is simply why are we doing this?
We’re doing this because we feel the game still has a ton to offer. There are stories yet to be told, adventures yet to be had, and locations yet to be explored. As a studio, we had to decide whether to put the game on the backburner and move the team onto a new project, or if we should reinvest in it and breathe new, fresh air into the game. We decided on the latter, because we truly believe there is untapped potential in the game, and because there is a vast audience out there that haven’t even discovered the game yet – and hey, we think they should!

One of the things we knew we had to do to bring a new wave of players into the game is switch to a free-to-play model, and for that to truly work we’ve obviously had to make some significant changes to how the game plays. We know it’s a risk, but we’ve chosen to take that risk instead of seeing the game fade away. We’re giving it our best shot, and our hope is Secret World Legends will provide you with many more years of entertainment to come.

This reboot will allow us to continue adding new content and new storylines that will benefit players both new and old. Yes, we’ll finally be able to launch Season 2!

Now, let's talk about the game itself!
We want to be able to share the story and setting with everybody, so what is apparent immediately are the changes to accessibility. We want to get players into the action as quickly as possible, so we’re adding a new tutorial that gets players into the game and in control right from the start! The entire ability and progression system from TSW has been redesigned to make way more sense, make every choice stand out, and minimize instances where players could feel like they made the wrong choice when building a character.

New starter “classes” have also been added, to help guide players along as they learn more about their abilities, weapons, and possible combinations. This is important, since every single weapon type is getting their own unique combat mechanics! For example, Shotguns now have an ammunition count, and can choose from a variety of ammo types (self-heal, damage over time, etc.) when reloaded!

The revamped ability and weapon system is built with the aim to make Secret World Legends’ gameplay more responsive and action-oriented. To that end, we’re adopting traditional action game controls, meaning aiming everything with the mouse and moving with the keyboard! We’ll have a closer look at combat next week.

Also in store is a rework of the dressing room, which will allow for keeping track of the thousands of available clothing options much, much easier, a whole free-to-play economy system, a new equipment and upgrade system, updated character creation options, a slew of new visual effects for abilities and playfields, and a whole bunch of other stuff I’m probably forgetting about or can’t talk about yet. We’ll have more about all that in the coming weeks!

Secret World Legends is currently in Closed Beta, and we’re getting a ton of constructive feedback about everything that’s changed so far. We also need to stress this has been a BETA-beta, not a glorified demo or stress test that runs for a week before launch, so there’s many aspects of the Beta still not polished or even ready to be tested right now.

Sincerely,
