Zandalari Troll

Horde
Introduction Zandalari Troll
The Zandalari are a proud people whose origins date back to the early days of Azeroth's history. Their fierce warriors ride dinosaurs into battle, and they possess one of the most formidable naval fleets in the known world. But enemy attacks on their borders—as well as unrest within the king's council—have threatened the kingdom's foundations. By returning stability to Zandalar, the heroes of the Horde can gain a powerful new ally.
History

The Zandalari are the oldest tribe of trolls, dating back over 16,000 years to a time before the Sundering split the world apart. While other tribes evolved into jungle, forest, or ice trolls, the Zandalari maintained their original, towering stature, rigid posture, and vast wealth. They built a massive, golden empire based on a deep spiritual connection to the Loa—powerful wild gods that grant them magical blessings.

For millennia, they remained isolated on their island nation, viewing themselves as superior to all other mortal races. However, a series of catastrophic events—including the Cataclysm that shattered their island and a massive invasion by the Blood Trolls—left their great empire vulnerable. Facing a brutal civil war and a massive naval assault by the Alliance, Princess Talanji officially negotiated an alliance with the Horde to save her people.

Starting Zone: Zandalar
Rising majestically out of the South Seas, Zandalar is a primeval paradise dominated by towering mountain ranges and dense, deadly jungles. It is an ancient continent teeming with massive, armored dinosaurs and primordial beasts. For generations, the Zandalari have defended these shores from blood trolls and deep-sea monstrosities, relying on their massive golden fleet to project power across the oceans.
Home City: Dazar'alor

Carved into the sheer cliffs of the mountains, Dazar'alor is the golden jewel of the Zandalari Empire. It is the oldest city on Azeroth, a sprawling, colossal golden pyramid that rises high above the jungle canopy. Its massive stone plazas, roaring waterfalls, and gilded terraces serve as the ultimate symbol of troll dominance, blending vast riches with ancient, primal power.

Dazar'alor is a massive, multi-tiered capital city. The highest point is the Great Seal, housing the royal throne room and portal rooms. Lower tiers feature the Grand Bazaar for trade, specialized training grounds for their massive dinosaur mounts, and deep temple docks that host the legendary Zandalari golden navy.

Leader: The Royal Bloodline
Zandalari society is built on a strict, religious caste system governed by a central monarchy and a powerful council of priests:
  • Queen Talanji: The current ruler of the Zandalari Empire. Originally a fierce, forward-thinking princess, she took the throne after her father was assassinated during the Battle of Dazar'alor. Talanji is a powerful priestess of Bwonsamdi (the Loa of Death). She broke ancient traditions by personally travelling to Kalimdor to recruit the Horde, proving herself a highly capable, aggressive wartime leader.
  • King Rastakhan: The legendary former God-King who ruled the Zandalari for over two hundred years. Bound by a mystical pact with the Loa Rezan, he possessed unnatural youth and strength. However, his long reign bred complacency, allowing corrupt advisors to plot against him. He died defending his golden city from an Alliance invasion, passing his crown to his daughter.
  • The Zanchuli Council: A powerful governing body of high priests, scholars, and generals who advise the crown. Each member represents a specific Loa or military division. While historically loyal, the council was deeply corrupted from within by the prophet Zul, who attempted a massive coup to overthrow the monarchy before being defeated.
