Dracthyr
Alliance / Horde
The Dracthyr were created over 20,000 years ago by Neltharion the Earth-Warder (who would later become Deathwing). Seeking to forge the perfect army to defend Azeroth, he genetically fused the raw essence and magical powers of dragons with the adaptability and sharp wit of the mortal races.
To control his new creations, Neltharion used a titan artifact called the Oathbinder. However, during a massive assault by the Primal Incarnates, the artifact was shattered. Fearing the independent will of his own army, Neltharion placed the entire Dracthyr race into a magical, stasis sleep deep within the Dragon Isles. They remained asleep for millennia until a massive surge of elemental energy finally awakened them in the modern era. Now, they must navigate a completely changed Azeroth while forging an identity independent of their creator.
Towering high above the Thaldraszus mountains, Valdrakken stands as the magnificent, golden jewel of the dragon civilization. Built during the height of the Aspects' reign, this sprawling metropolis is an architectural marvel of sweeping marble arches, roaring waterfalls, and massive sky-high roosts. It serves as a majestic sanctuary where dragons and mortals alike gather to forge a new future for Azeroth
While the Dracthyr maintain specialized training camps inside the Forbidden Reach, Valdrakken serves as their true cultural and functional capital. Within the city, they have a dedicated military district called the Weyrn Grounds, where their different factions train, research their ancient history, and coordinate operations with the Dragon Aspects.
The Dracthyr army was originally divided into specialized military legions called Weyrns, each led by a Scalecommander. Following their awakening, two primary factions emerged to guide their people into the modern world:
Awaken
Discerning Eye
Familiar Skies
Glide
Soar
Tail Swipe
Visage
