The Impulse Rifle was originally used by the so called 'Regiment of Small Spirits'. In essence those were non-sentient spirits that could carry and fire this type of rifle from fortifications or in conjunction with booby-traps. However, they were really too expensive to summon and too easy to defeat - and none of them exist today.
