The breath of the Icy Shadow is often found solidified into these small fragments of ice. Special glands located just behind the Shadow's teeth secrete a deep-freezing liquid oxygen like gas of unknown composition that instantly solidifies moisture that it comes into contact with. This turns many substances brittle allowing the shadow to shatter its victim's skin much more easily.

The Yuttos believe that these frozen goblets of moisture from the Shadows can contain the spirit of the Shadow's victims that manage to escape the creature's jaws as it attacks and is attempting to bite them. The ancient Yuttos used to make these fragments into protective amulets that could warn the wearer when Shadows were present.
