Usually Flak armor is heavily padded, but for some time Jane Flowers experimented with exchanging the padding with a type of porous kevlar material she had invented. It did indeed improve the performance of the armor, but regular production of the new material proved being to expensive. Wearing it for an extended period requires some strength and stamina, as well as some agility because of the stiffened padding.
