This strange residue was all that could be recovered from the body of a Soul Stealer. With sharp crystal protrusions all around it, the small fist sized object resembles a ball of spikes.

Each individual spike seems to move independently and reacts to the proximity of any living being. Similar samples have been recovered from the strange spirit inhabitants in several areas of the Shadowlands. Scientists studying the samples have noticed that close and prolonged exposure to these samples can lead to unusually lucid visions being experienced, usually whilst sleeping. Originally dismissed as dreams, these visions were later found to cause over-activity in very different sections of the brain from that which are normally stimulated by dreaming. This became apparent after an entire JOBE research team complained of disturbing dreams disrupting their already limited sleep cycles.

Based on the data available, it was theorized that continued over-exposure might even trigger involuntary physical actions by those affected.
