The Secret World Skills

Skills are abilities players can unlock on the Power Wheel and then inter-change as they progress The Secret World. Players can only have fourteen skills available to them at any one time, seven active and seven passive, but have the option to change which skills they use at anima wells. Templates, suggested build paths, will be available to give players an idea of where to start with skill point allocation. Player-created builds can be saved to allow skills and associated gear to be swapped at the same time.


Acquisition

Skill points are acquired through gaining experience, which can be done by completing missions, defeating enemies, exploring, crafting, and PvP. New skills can be purchased at outposts and at the faction headquarters; skills deeper in a cell have increased cost and purchase restrictions exist. Skills will automatically scale with changes to chakras, weapons, and other skills. An individual player can learn all of the skills available to them, based on faction; this process is expected to be lengthy.

Characters are able to test all of the basic skills available to them in their faction's training room, once you leave the training room, the skill is purchased. Once skills are purchased they cannot be refunded.

Certain faction skills are obtained through routes other than experience gain; these skills are primarily non-combat.


Benefits

Cabals will be able to furnish and decorate their housing. Also there will be streamlined leaderboards tracking the success of cabals. These leaderboards not only measure in PVP, but also other aspects such as exploration, crafting, and PVE missions.

The leaderboards will grant rewards to those holding the number one spot such as special titles for cablas or players. They will be available both inside and outside of the game.


Types
Active
Skills that are active must be triggered to be used and have a cool-down period. Active skills may be "builders" or "exploiters" or cause either the target or the player to go into a state.

Builders
Builders are abilities that stack counters on the player, allowing access to special abilities that may do more damage or healing. Some of the special abilities may add more counters to the player, rather than using them.

Exploiters
Exploiters are abilities that stack counters on the target, allowing access to special abilities that do more damage.

Passive
Passive skills are always active on the player while equipped and they may interact with active skills or improve base skill abilities.
